About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Geriatric Medicine Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant in Elderly Care, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to our elderly patients and contributing to the development of our geriatric medicine services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive geriatric care to patients, including assessment, diagnosis, and management of complex medical conditions.
  • Develop and implement care plans in collaboration with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of geriatric medicine services, including the establishment of new clinics and programs.
  • Supervise and educate junior medical staff and medical students in geriatric medicine.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to geriatric care.

Requirements
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council and a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Geriatric Medicine or equivalent.
  • Experience in geriatric medicine, including the management of complex medical conditions and the development of care plans.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to quality improvement and patient safety.
