Transport Operations Manager

We are seeking a skilled Transport Operations Manager to join our Transport team at our Dagenham site. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our Transport Depot Manager to ensure the effective running of a busy transport operation, meeting Operational KPIs and adhering to legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with our Myworkforce team to ensure compliance with all MWF activity and tasks, including resource planning and managing the safety and cost-effective utilisation of drivers and equipment.
- Own, monitor, and control the driver de-briefing process to ensure agreed standards of performance are consistently achieved through effective communication and management.
- Manage and support the driver workforce while engaged on activity to ensure full legal compliance, with records correctly completed and maintained in accordance with procedure.
- Manage all aspects of driver performance to achieve or surpass expectations and KPIs.
- Promote company Health & Safety and employment policies within the transport operation.
- Ensure all personnel files are up to date, incorporating licence validation, personal details, and completed training.
- Responsible for site audits and works closely with the Transport Manager to ensure KPIs are met.
- Support the daily operational workflow on the customer site by providing answers to urgent queries.
- Actively work with the customer and site management team to achieve performance, addressing any concerns or questions in a timely manner.
- Manage the recruitment of permanent and temporary staff as required to cover business peaks.
- Ensure that the Transport Manager & the H&S team are made aware of all accidents, dangerous occurrences & near misses and that the relevant reports are completed for all such incidents.
- Responsible for identifying and escalating any maintenance and repair issues on site and within depot.
- Ensure that all daily vehicle check, vehicle inspection & defect reporting procedures are in place.
Requirements:
- Proven track record in Transport & Logistics industry.
- Demonstrable experience of successful resource management.
- Excellent organisation and communication skills.
- Proven track record of working to clearly defined service delivery KPIs.
- Excellent understanding of Health and Safety processes.
- Energetic and has a natural desire to generate and drive improvements.
- Good people engagement skills, self-driven, positive can-do attitude.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in a customer facing environment.
