Job Overview

The Department of Clinical Neurophysiology at Barts Health NHS Trust invites applications for a Band 7 position for an experienced Clinical Physiologist to join our dynamic team.

The department is situated at the Royal London Hospital, and the successful candidate will be involved in various neurophysiological diagnostic investigations in all age groups, including routine and sleep adult and paediatric EEGs, and portable EEGs within the trust and other affiliated hospitals.

The neurophysiology department offers a wide range of clinical experiences for those seeking to develop their career as an independent clinical physiologist.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive clinical neurophysiological investigative service to both inpatients and outpatients of this Trust and surrounding hospitals.

Additionally, the department provides a portable investigative service at the bedside to critically ill patients outside the Trust.

Patients are of all ages, come from a large range of specialties, and suffer from a wide variety of medical disorders affecting the central and peripheral nervous systems.

Referrals come mainly from Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neonatology, Paediatrics, Intensive Care, General Medicine, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, and Psychiatry.

Key responsibilities include providing a comprehensive clinical neurophysiological investigative service to both inpatients and outpatients of this Trust and surrounding hospitals, and providing a portable investigative service at the bedside to critically ill patients outside the Trust.

Person Specification

Applicants should have a minimum of a BSc (Hons) in Clinical Physiology (Neurophysiology) or equivalent formal specialist training.

Significant post-qualification experience, especially in portable EEGs in the ITU setting and paediatric experience, along with RCCP or HCPC registration, is essential.
