The Role:

As VAT Compliance Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day UK VAT affairs of the Corporation of Lloyd's. This includes preparing and filing VAT returns, providing technical support to other functions, and serving as the primary contact for VAT-related issues and queries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and file the Corporation's quarterly VAT returns.
  • Manage the Corporation's other UK VAT compliance obligations, including the annual adjustment and capital goods scheme adjustment.
  • Provide VAT support and advice to other departments on VAT issues, queries, and cross-directorate projects.
  • Maintain VAT procedures and other key controls within the VAT risk and governance framework.
  • Liaise with HMRC on VAT-related issues and queries.

Requirements:

  • Strong data analytic skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate tax-technical issues to a non-tax audience.
  • Ability to work independently with guidance on complex issues and organize and prioritize own work.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and liaise with other departments and external contacts.
  • Solid and broad knowledge of relevant VAT/GST regimes, particularly in the UK.
  • Good knowledge of partial exemption.

Professional Qualifications:

  • Accountancy or tax qualification, such as ACCA, ACA, or CTA, is required. However, candidates with equivalent experience may be considered.
