About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join our team at Vision for Education - Newcastle. As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with our experienced teachers and support staff to provide high-quality support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to students with SEND, including those with Autism, MLD, SLD, PMLD, ADHD, Specific Learning Difficulties, Complex Medical Needs, and Speech and Language Difficulties.
  • Assist with personal care, feeding, and hydrotherapy sessions, as required.
  • Work collaboratively with the teaching team to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior support plans.
  • Support students with their academic and social development, including assisting with lessons and activities.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting the well-being and safety of all students.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with primary or secondary school-aged children, preferably in a SEND setting.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, providing support and guidance to colleagues as needed.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Manual handling training is desirable but not essential.
