The Trainee Underwriter will join these teams to help deliver outstanding service aligned with our sales strategy. Key responsibilities include creating renewal terms, ensuring customer retention on optimal terms, and cross-selling new products to existing customers.

This role provides extensive development opportunities, exposure to our products, underwriting platform, and strategy, allowing you to grow professionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite new/existing commercial business (PSC) products in line with high standards
  • Work across broker distribution channels and commercial insurance products
  • Achieve set targets each month, including profitability, GWP, conversion, retention, cross-sell, referral rate reduction, quotes per day, turnaround times, workflow management, phone service, and prospecting
  • Develop sales skills and appreciation of sales and underwriting strategy in collaboration with wider teams and regions
  • Negotiate effectively with internal and external parties, identifying key contacts within brokers
  • Challenge non-standard underwriting decisions, leveraging expertise of product specialists and senior team members
  • Show courage and innovation by spotting process improvements and enhancing customer experience and driving profitable growth
