St Columba's Hospice provides palliative care and support to individuals living with life-limiting illnesses. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for our patients and their families by providing compassionate and holistic care.

Job Description

We are seeking a Therapy Animal Volunteer to join our Complementary Therapy Team. As a key member of our team, you will provide emotional support and comfort to our patients through animal-assisted therapy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Visit patients on hospital wards with your certified therapy animal
  • Work closely with ward staff to identify patients who would benefit from animal visits
  • Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families
  • Report any issues or concerns to ward staff
Requirements
  • Current membership in Canine Concern Scotland Trust and/or Pets as Therapy UK
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to follow infection control guidelines and maintain a clean and safe environment
Training and Support

You will receive comprehensive training and support to help you succeed in this role. This includes hospice orientation, therapy animal induction, and team/role induction and training.
