About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer (Design Authority) to join our team at Roxel UK. The successful candidate will work closely with our Design Authority Team Leader to manage design evolution, specify and review structural, thermal, and ballistic analyses, and lead formal design reviews.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage design evolution to meet customer requirements, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
  • Specify and review structural, thermal, and ballistic analyses to ensure that our products are safe and reliable.
  • Specify, monitor, and report rocket motor trials to ensure that our products meet the required specifications.
  • Ensure that appropriate validation testing is carried out prior to formal qualifications, and that all necessary documentation is completed.
  • Lead formal design reviews at the relevant design phases, ensuring that all actions are taken and completed on time.
  • Responsible for design and production certification, and for producing a Certificate of Design for the rocket motor.
  • Act as the customer technical interface, leading on all technical matters with the missile prime contractor.
  • Arrange and manage specific trials, such as structural testing, rocket motor firings, and laboratory scale testing.
  • Disassemble and assess fired rocket motor hardware, ensuring that all necessary data is collected and documented.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a formal qualification (degree or equivalent) in mechanical, aeronautical, or related engineering discipline. You will also need to have a good understanding of DFMEA, 'Design to Cost', and 'Design for Manufacture' principles, as well as excellent document/report writing skills and computer literacy.
