About The Role

Morrison Data Services is seeking a skilled High Voltage Cable Jointer to join our team in the UK Power Networks contract in Hertfordshire.

As a High Voltage Cable Jointer, you will be part of our substation build team who deliver Capital Programme works on UKPN's 11kV, 33kV & 132kV Distribution Network. Your role will involve the jointing and terminating of 11kV and 33kV cables onto High Voltage equipment.

Morrison Data Services is proud to be a key partner in the UKPN Alliance, delivering substation build and refurbishment works across the East of England, including design, project management, cable installation, building construction, jointing, switchgear, bunding, commissioning, decommissioning, and demolition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use and interpret manuals, asset standards, and other technical information to assist with Installations and remedial works.
  • Work in accordance with the company and client safe systems of work and permit to work systems.
  • Adapt and respond to unforeseen events and act accordingly.
  • Plan and coordinate effectively without supervision.
  • Work independently or as part of a team.
  • Mentor and coach less experienced staff and apprentices in developing their knowledge and skills.
  • Learn new skills, including electrical fitting activities on High Voltage switchgear, transformers, and associated equipment, installation of Earthing Systems, and installation of outdoor equipment such as Bus Bar, Disconnectors, and Switchgear.
Requirements
  • Hold an NVQ Level 3 in an Electrical discipline or completed an approved Apprenticeship.
  • Hold a full driver's license.
  • Act as a competent person to receive safety documentation.
  • Experience in terminating Inner Cone and T-Boot cable terminations.
  • Experience in installing Indoor / Outdoor Raychem 11kV/33kV terminations.
  • Experience in Jointing XLPE to XLPE / XLPE to PILC 11kV / 33kV cable Joints.
  • Experience in dressing and cleating above ground terminations.
