Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Certified Prosthetist to join our Orthotics Department. The successful candidate will work in a large staffed on-site workshop with manufacturing facilities, collaborating with technical staff to develop manufacture and design skills.

Main Responsibilities
  • Perform thorough assessments of patients using advanced communication skills to identify patient-centred goals.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure accurate patient prescriptions, applying measurement and data acquisition techniques to record all necessary information.
  • Develop and maintain a high level of expertise in performing positive model rectifications and risk assessments for customised devices, prioritising patient safety.
  • Evaluate completed devices on patients to ensure optimal quality of body-device interface, functional alignment, comfort, cosmetic appearance, and mechanical integrity and safety.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient treatment records in line with professional standards and department procedure.
  • Liaise with the multidisciplinary team and other organisations to ensure the best possible care for each individual.
Requirements
  • BSc Honours in Prosthetics and Orthotics or equivalent qualification.
  • HCPC registration (not required if still a student) and membership of BAPO.
  • Well-maintained CPD portfolio and attendance at recent post-graduate courses relevant to the post.
  • Experience in the NHS and ability to provide examples of patient experience.
  • Strong understanding of audit, quality improvement, and clinical governance principles.

  • Able to present information clearly and logically, both written and orally.
  • Demonstrates clinical reasoning and applies theory to practice.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The estimated salary range for this position is £34,521 - £41,956 per annum, inclusive of HCAs.
