Job Summary

We are seeking a Mechanical Fitter Apprentice to join our team at Fives Landis Ltd. in the United Kingdom. As an apprentice, you will have the opportunity to learn and develop your skills in building precision machine tools and component manufacturing process control. You will work alongside experienced mechanical fitters, gaining hands-on experience and training in the maintenance, repair, and assembly of mechanical systems and machinery.

Main Responsibilities

  • Work with state-of-the-art machine construction systems to build precision machine tools.
  • Learn to measure geometry and displacements using advanced equipment.
  • Understand how temperature affects the shape of materials and how to overcome accuracy issues.
  • Develop skills in modifying components using various machine tools.
  • Collaborate with a team of experts, including machine designers, CAD draughtsmen, project managers, and tool room machinists.
  • Contribute to process development and work with customers to specify components.

Requirements

  • GCSE grade 9 to 5 in Maths, Science, and English.
  • Desirable qualifications: A-levels in Maths, Physics, Science, and English, or BTEC in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Practical problem-solving skills and mechanical assembly aptitude.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Interest in how things work and willingness to learn.
