Mechanical Support Specialist

As a Mechanical Support Specialist at National Nuclear Laboratory, you will provide critical engineering support to the Infrastructure Compliance Engineering team. Your expertise in plant, system, and equipment reliability will be instrumental in delivering solutions that meet our organisational needs.
Main Responsibilities- Develop pragmatic fit-for-purpose engineering solutions that meet our objectives in a cost-effective manner.
- Implement and maintain the technical basis of maintenance (TBoM) process, assisting with planning for complex maintenance activities.
- Ensure maintenance tasks are clearly briefed, understood, and performed safely and on schedule to ensure safe operation of the facility.
- Comply with legislative, regulatory, and company procedures and standards.
- Assist in producing PMPs and presenting at committee.
- Support the Mechanical Team Leader in installation, modifications, and commissioning of installed equipment, identifying and delivering plant and process improvements.
- Degree Qualified (Mechanical) or HND in an equivalent discipline.
- Become PMP Manager.
- Become appointed as Sub Contractor Supervisor.
- Ability to achieve SC Clearance, including identity, employment, financial, and criminal records checks, plus 5 years’ worth of UK residency.
- Hold IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent as a minimum qualification.
- Awareness of nuclear, conventional safety, and security requirements applicable to their area of responsibility.
- Demonstrate supervisory experience for operations undertaken within a nuclear plant.
- Good general safety case awareness with demonstrable knowledge of nuclear safety mechanisms, safety-related equipment, and Safety Features.
£50,000 - £70,000 per annum, depending on experience.
