Gordon Murray Group is seeking a highly skilled Material Controller to join our team in Shalford/Windlesham. As a Material Controller, you will play a crucial role in supporting the establishment and ramp-up of Logistics operations at our specialized, small-volume automotive manufacturing operation.
Key Responsibilities- Logistics Control Operations: Implement and lead Logistics Control Operations to enable vehicle production on a daily basis, producing high-quality vehicles across all models.
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work with GMAE/GMA members to develop and standardize Logistics Control Operations milestones, achieving customer expectations and maximizing production.
- Capacity Planning and Stock Control: Collaborate with the Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Design teams to ensure capacity planning, on-time delivery, and stock control.
- Supply Chain Strategy Development: Work closely with internal stakeholders to develop a supply chain strategy within GMA.
- Process Improvement: Continuously improve and develop logistics processes with GMAE/GMA members.
- Investigation and Resolution: Investigate stock discrepancies and improve the accuracy of information.
- Manufacturing and Purchasing Support: Liaise with Manufacturing and Purchasing departments to avoid manufacturing delays.
- Coverage and Support: Support Production control/Purchasing functions as necessary to cover holidays and absence.
- Cycle Time and Line Rebalancing: Support Cycle Time and line rebalancing, trials, and training activities from a logistics perspective.
- New Model Activities: Support new model activities.
- Problem-Solving and Process Improvement: Promote, establish, and sustain problem-solving through daily management, engaging team members to improve their processes through understanding of targets and gaps.
- Record Keeping and Stock Management: Maintain accurate records and manage/control weekly and monthly stock levels, delivery times, and transport costs, then coordinate and control the order cycle. Identify waste in logistics processes and implement activities to improve efficiency.
- Flexibility and Availability: Be available to work overtime, shutdowns, and travel as needed.
- Experience in Procurement: Experience within procurement of materials.
- ERP and MRP Systems: Experience with ERP and/or MRP systems.
- Data Analysis: Able to analyze complex data to ensure optimization of manufacturing constraints.
- Office Productivity: Excellent proficiency in the use of office products (predominantly Excel).
- Adaptability and Proactivity: Approachable and adaptable to change. Proactive and autonomous.
- Previous Experience: Previous experience within a comparable role.
- Collaboration and Communication: Experience in working collaboratively and cross-functionally.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills.
- Demand Planning and Forecasting: Detailed knowledge of demand planning and forecasting processes.
- Time Management and Attention to Detail: Ability to work to strict deadlines and with a high attention to detail.
- Workload Prioritization: Ability to effectively prioritize own workload.
- Organizational and Communication Skills: Excellent organizational and communication skills in addition to strong Excel skills.
