The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead/Principal Instrumentation Engineer to join our team and take the lead in one of our major projects. Our client is a leading Engineering Consultancy specializing in the petrochemical sector.

As a Lead/Principal Instrumentation Engineer, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers to produce designs for medium/large scale infrastructure projects in the chemical or petrochemical sector. You will communicate across multi-disciplined teams to ensure the project is completed on time and within budget.

Projects and proposals are for process plants and facilities across multiple sectors, including Chemical, Petrochemical, Power and Energy Transition, and New Energy sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Work across a project on a well-established Master Service Agreement.
  2. Engage in the full project lifecycle, including conceptual studies, FEED, and detailed design phases.
  3. Develop Control & Instrument Engineering deliverables as required on a project-by-project basis.
  4. Communicate effectively with the client and project management team.
  5. Have or work towards Chartered Engineer status as a Member of the Institute of Measurement and Control (IMC) or Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
  6. Experience in Instrument Engineering Design on Medium / Large capital projects from concept to start-up.
  7. Extensive experience in Chemical, Petrochemical, and Oil & Gas industries.
  8. Competent in project execution using selected design tools and techniques.
  9. Competent in Specification, technical bid analysis, and requisitioning of Field Instrumentation and Analysers.
  10. Competent in the application, specification, and requisitioning of DCS, PLC, and SIS systems, with experience in the system's full lifecycle.
  11. Competent in the Specification / Design / Implementation of Hazardous Area Instrumentation (ATEX).
  12. Competent in Instrumentation and Control requirements for Mechanical packages.
  13. Competent in the Sizing of flow devices/control valves/relief devices.

Requirements:

  • Chartered Engineer status as a Member of the Institute of Measurement and Control (IMC) or Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
  • Extensive experience in Chemical, Petrochemical, and Oil & Gas industries.
  • Competent in project execution using selected design tools and techniques.

What We Offer:

  • A competitive hourly rate of £50.00.
  • A 12-month contract with the possibility of extension.
  • A hybrid working arrangement, with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.
