The role of the Development Project Officer is to support the delivery of project priorities and to contribute to the wider PCN Team in delivering their services to the PCNs across which they work.

Key Responsibilities

Maintaining Oversight and Leading Work

The post holder will maintain oversight of, and where required, lead work on the local development and implementation of Primary Care Networks.

Providing Ongoing Support

The post holder will provide ongoing support to Clinical Directors and GP practices in order to progress local plans, initiatives and developments that assist PCNs to reach maturity.

Developing Care Pathways

The post holder will support the PCN Team with the development, redesign and implementation of care pathways to ensure primary care commissioned services provide quality and value for money.

Reporting Performance

The post holder will ensure good systems are in place to report performance, such as PCN spends, including ARRS, IIF performance etc. This will require triangulation of data sources, to identify and interpret key variances in performance.

Delivering PCN Projects

The post holder will support the delivery of relevant PCN projects and promote the principles of the PCN through the delivery of their role.

This role is intended to support the PCN Team with delivery of routine and project based work. As such, the post holder will need to be dynamic and flexible in being responsive to a somewhat unplanned workflow.

The post holder will need to be able to positively contribute towards this work environment and culture.

Delivering a Quality Service

The post holder will prioritise, organise, and manage their own workload in a manner that maintains and promotes quality.

They will participate in quality assurance and safety processes across the organisation and its activities.

Leadership, Personal and People Development

The post holder will take responsibility for their own learning and performance, including participating in coaching/supervision and acting as a positive role model.

They will critically evaluate and review innovations and developments that are relevant to the area of work.

They will enlist support and influence stakeholders and decision-makers in order to bring about new developments in the provision of services.

They will contribute to planning and implementing changes within primary care.

Management of Risk

The post holder will manage and assess risk within the areas of responsibility, ensuring adequate measures are in place to protect staff and patients.

They will monitor work areas and practices to ensure they are safe and free from hazards and conform to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.

They will participate in mandatory and statutory training requirements.

Managing Information

The post holder will use technology and appropriate software as an aid to management in planning, implementation, monitoring, presenting and communicating information.

They will collate, analyse, and present data and information to the Team.

Learning and Development

The post holder will disseminate learning and information gained to other team members in order to share good practice and inform others about current and future developments.

They will enable others to promote equality and diversity in a non-discriminatory culture.
