Senior Town Planner Opportunity

RPS Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Town Planner to join our Planning Team in Birmingham or Manchester. As a Senior Town Planner, you will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of planning applications, including residential, mixed-use developments, data centres, airports, retail, logistics, and major infrastructure projects.

Working closely with our multi-disciplinary services team, you will support and deliver planning applications, develop planning strategies, and prepare representations to Local Plan consultations. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to business development initiatives and engage with our Planners, Assistant Planners, Graduates, and Apprentices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting strategic planning work, including the preparation of representations to Local Plan consultations and developing planning strategies.
  • Preparing Planning Statements and representations to Local Plan consultations.
  • Developing written and oral communication skills.
  • Directly engaging in business development initiatives.
  • Actively supporting Planners, Assistant Planners, Graduates, and Apprentices.
  • Contributing to the Prospects Planning Group.

Requirements:

  • Fully qualified RTPI chartered town planner with experience in a planning consultancy or local government role.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Passion for planning, development, and environmental issues.
  • Good working knowledge of planning policy.
  • Attention to detail and proactive mindset.
  • Strategic thinker and problem solver.
  • Market awareness and understanding of local planning issues.
  • Experience working in a planning policy role or city/urban planning environment in the Birmingham or Manchester region.
