A recent court case involving a rogue trader who targeted vulnerable individuals in Dorset has highlighted the importance of conducting thorough research and due diligence when hiring tradespeople.

The trader, who operated under the name 'All Seasons', was found to have carried out fraudulent business practices, including charging excessive prices and undertaking unnecessary work.

The case involved eight properties in various locations, including Ferndown, Christchurch, Exeter, Devizes, Andover, and Shipton Bellinger.

The trader would approach elderly and vulnerable victims, often using high-pressure sales tactics to convince them to pay for unnecessary work.

Two of the victims were in the later stages of dementia, and one was registered blind.

The court heard that the trader's men would start work immediately and undertake sub-standard, overpriced work, with the victims paying in advance by cash or bank transfer.

The investigation revealed that the victims had lost over £100,000 between them, with the trader admitting to taking £70,000.

A second man was also sentenced for laundering money for the business.
