We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Science Technician to join our team at an exceptional school based in London.

About the Role:

  • Ensure all equipment is prepared to meet teachers' specifications, demonstrating excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Organise, prepare, repair, clean, transport, and collect equipment and materials, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Assist and support in practical lessons and enrichment activities, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Understand schemes of work and syllabi of Science to prepare for practical lessons, showcasing expertise in curriculum development.
  • Prepare stock orders, manage administration, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Carry out risk assessments, organise hazardous waste disposal, and maintain efficient storage and record-keeping systems.
  • Conduct safety checks on equipment, record faults, and implement corrective actions, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Support the development of resources, schemes of work, and teaching strategies in the subject area, promoting best practices.
  • Manage the allocation of work across the technician team, arranging training, appraisal, and performance management.
  • Evaluate the welfare and care of plants and animals in the science area and secure equipment, maintaining a high standard of maintenance.
  • Create special equipment or modify existing equipment as necessary from sketches or instructions supplied by science teaching staff.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrate excellent numeracy, literacy, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Show experience working under pressure, meeting deadlines, and adapting to changing situations.
  • Possess relevant qualifications, further training, and knowledge of appropriate health and safety regulations.

Estimated Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum
