Risk Governance Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Standards Design Manager to join our team at NatWest, responsible for designing and implementing robust risk governance frameworks to mitigate financial crime risks.
About the RoleIn this critical role, you will partner with the business, products, and Risk function to identify, assess, and manage risks within agreed risk appetite, using the bank's risk framework. You will make a vital contribution to driving a generative culture of risk awareness, recommending solutions to financial crime risk issues, and strengthening ownership within the business.
You will work from home some of the time, but also spend a significant amount of time working from an office or hub, minimum 2 days per week.
Key Responsibilities- Design new standards, including creating strategic standards for all financial crime risk typologies for bank-wide operational execution and assurance across the three lines of defence.
- Lead and inspire a team of business and customer control partners to achieve team objectives.
- Design system requirements and progress change requests to facilitate system enhancements or fixes.
- Collaborate with business product owner teams to turn standards into artefacts for onward implementation into strategic solutions and operating procedures.
- Undertake and investigate complex queries through to resolution.
To be successful in this role, you will need a good working knowledge of anti-money laundering (AML) processes, systems, controls, and operating model, as well as experience of reporting analysis to stakeholders. You will also need excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience of successfully engaging with stakeholders to deliver initiatives.
You will bring experience of managing change in an agile way, using a multidisciplinary team of expertise, and knowledge of financial crime processes, systems, policies, and regulations across multiple disciplines, specialising in AML or counter-terrorism financing, politically exposed people, and exits.
You will also need experience of working within approved governance to ensure that any changes to existing documented procedures are compliant with policy and regulatory requirements, and the ability to analyse and evaluate multiple sources of information, alternatives, and associated consequences.
You will be able to successfully deliver both existing processes and ad-hoc accountabilities to the highest standards, while managing multiple agendas and stakeholder requirements.
