We are seeking an experienced media relations professional to join our busy team. As a key member of our Corporate Communications team, you will provide strategic and tactical media relations advice, play a crucial role in developing and executing our external communication strategy to support our strategic goals.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Head of Corporate Communications in providing strategic communications advice and crisis communications counsel.
  • Working with colleagues across the business and the global Communications team to ensure communications alignment of global messages externally and internally.
  • Preparing press releases, media materials, announcements, and briefing points that align to Nomura's global narrative and core messages.
  • Securing positive media coverage and supporting award applications as needed.
  • Developing an excellent network of journalist contacts to ensure the strategy of the bank is effectively and accurately communicated.
  • Maintaining a robust governance process partnering with Compliance, IT Security, Business Continuity, Legal, and Corporate Communications colleagues, ensuring all stakeholders have every opportunity to contribute in line with the strategic priorities and governance framework.

Experience of working in financial services is essential. This is a great opportunity for a seasoned media professional looking to take the next step up or someone looking to gain responsibility. Experience of working in a busy press office or agency is a must.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in the creation and implementation of a strategic media relations plan to support global business objectives.
  • Experience of gaining press coverage through a range of means, such as press releases, social media, managing events, research, and case studies.
  • A strong grasp, and interest in, political and economic issues and the financial markets.
  • A knowledge of key financial media and an understanding of their requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communications.
  • Strong news sense and judgment: ability to identify story ideas and content.
  • The ability to be flexible and multi-task on a daily basis, managing ongoing projects as well as ad-hoc issues that demand immediate attention.
