About the Role:

Protocol Education is seeking a Behavioural Specialist Teaching Assistant to join a special school supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health problems.

About the School:

Our client is a special school catering to students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. The school faces challenging behaviour and escalated situations where behavioural teaching assistants are required to de-escalate to maintain students and staff safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for students with SEMH needs who may find it difficult or be reluctant to engage in education.
  • Build rapport with students and create positive relationships which influence them to regulate their behaviour.
  • Work on a temporary basis, with the option to become permanent if required by the school.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or a passion for improving the outcomes for young people.
  • Outgoing and confident in your abilities to deal with behavioural difficulties and re-engaging students in education.
  • Desirable qualifications include Team Teach and experience in dealing with young people who have SEMH needs.
