Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of History to join our school in Haringey. As the Head of History, you will be responsible for leading and managing the History team, developing and implementing an engaging and rigorous History curriculum, and ensuring students develop a deep understanding and genuine appreciation for this captivating subject.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the History department, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities for teachers.
  • Develop and implement an engaging and rigorous History curriculum, in line with national standards and the school's educational vision.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning within the department, implementing improvement strategies.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel inspired, challenged, and supported.
  • Maintain strong relationships with students, parents, and stakeholders, keeping them informed of students' progress and achievements.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in history education, incorporating innovative teaching approaches and resources.
  • Collaborate with other department heads and the senior leadership team to promote cross-curricular initiatives and enhance the overall educational provision.
Requirements
  • A degree in History or a related field.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and preferably a postgraduate qualification in education or leadership.
  • Proven experience as a History teacher, with a track record of delivering excellent results.
  • Leadership experience, ideally as a Head of Department or in a similar leadership role.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the history curriculum and assessment requirements.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Passion for history education and a commitment to enhancing students' understanding and appreciation of the subject.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience working in a school setting, preferably in a similar educational environment.
Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition, we provide a range of benefits, including access to ongoing professional development opportunities, health insurance, and a generous pension scheme.
