Job Summary

The Essex County Council is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Child and Young Persons Support Worker to join our frontline service. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of effective children's social work.

About the Role

The purpose of this role is to work within our Children and Young People with Disabilities (CYPWD) teams to provide comprehensive support to children, young people, and their families. You will be responsible for delivering positive behaviour support interventions, providing programmes of direct work with children and young people, and working closely with social workers to develop and implement care plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver positive behaviour support interventions to families to support the management of behaviours that challenge, including routines, relationships, and puberty.
  • Provide programmes of direct work with children and young people that support their understanding of their 'Life Story' and promote appropriate forms of communication.
  • Work with children, young people, and whole families to promote wellbeing and develop existing parenting skills/capacity.
  • Explore external community services that would support the needs of families.

Requirements

  • NVQ/BTEC Level 3 or equivalent
  • Experience of using positive based behaviour management strategies
  • Experience of building strong, effective relationships with children, young people, and families in times of challenge and crisis
  • Experience of undertaking direct, activity-based work with children, young people, and families
