The Role

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Technical Sales Representative with the flexibility to visit clients in France and French-speaking Africa. This hybrid role combines in-office sales activities, such as consultations, proposal generation, and order management, with external customer visits to build relationships and grow our market. To excel in this role, you have a technical background or strong motivation to learn technical sales, excellent communication skills, and the ability to identify customer needs and bridge them with our product solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify new markets and contacts, and respond to customer inquiries via phone and email, providing technical advice and product recommendations.
  • Visit customer sites to build relationships, better understand their needs, and identify new opportunities for product offerings.
  • Prepare and present quotes, proposals, and technical documentation for customers.
  • Work closely with engineering to ensure the project scope is understood and correct advice is given to customers.
  • Identify sales opportunities and provide pre-sales technical support.
  • Participate in client meetings, trade shows, and industry events to promote HMT products and services.
  • Conduct customer feedback surveys and provide insight to internal teams for improvements.
  • Conduct on-site presentations and technical consultations.
  • Use costing tools, historical data, and maintain internal sales CRM (Salesforce).

Requirements

  • Studies in Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • Fluency in French and English (verbal and written).
  • Prior experience in a technical sales role, preferably in industrial or manufacturing sectors.
  • Strong technical affinity or the ability to learn complex product specifications.
  • Excellent influential and communication skills, with a customer-centric focus.
  • Ability to balance inside office work with external customer visits, travel included.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
