Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Structural Engineer to join our team at Egis Industrie UK. As a Structural Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, integrity, and reliability of the nuclear power plant structures.
About the Role:
You will be responsible for various aspects of the design and structural analysis of reinforced concrete or steel structures. This includes designing and analysing reinforced concrete structures for the Nuclear Island Buildings of EPR nuclear power plants, performing structural calculations and Finite Element modelling using ANSYS APDL or similar advanced software and tools, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards such as Eurocode, ETC-C related to.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and analysis of reinforced concrete structures: You will design and analyse reinforced concrete structures for the Nuclear Island Buildings of EPR nuclear power plants.
- Structural calculations and Finite Element modelling: You will perform structural calculations and Finite Element modelling using ANSYS APDL or similar advanced software and tools.
- Compliance with codes and standards: You will ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards such as Eurocode, ETC-C related to.
- Collaboration with detailing team: You will collaborate with detailing team including drafting team, BIM Coordinator and other designer engineers as well as the technical direction team to ensure coordination and integration of design requirements.
- Design modifications: You will conduct calculations and structural assessments of design changes to determine the impact on the reinforced concrete structures and propose necessary design modifications.
- Design drawings and specifications: You will prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, and construction documentation for the reinforced concrete structures.
- Structural assessments and evaluations: You will conduct structural assessments, and evaluations during construction and provide technical support as needed.
- On-site design support: You will work closely with construction contractors and site teams to resolve any structural issues or challenges during the construction phase.
- Technical guidance and support: You will provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and draftsmen involved in the structural design and detailing process.
- Compliance with nuclear safety regulations: You will collaborate with the client, construction team and the principal designer as well as regulatory bodies and authorities to ensure compliance with nuclear safety regulations and requirements.
- CDM regulations: You will produce designs following CDM regulations.
- Industry advancements and best practices: You will stay updated with industry advancements, new technologies, and best practices in nuclear structural engineering.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent: You will have a Master's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent relevant subject.
- Experience in structural civil work: You will have experience in Structural Civil Work, Civil Design, RC detailing, steel structures with ETT-C or Eurocodes or other relevant codes.
- Experience in nuclear power plants: You will have proven experience working on the design and analysis of reinforced concrete structures for nuclear power plants, specifically with European Pressurized Reactors (EPR).
- Nuclear safety principles and regulations: You will have sound knowledge of nuclear safety principles, regulations, and standards governing the design and construction of nuclear power plant structures.
- Structural analysis software: You will have proficiency in using structural analysis software, such as ANSYS, SAP2000, or similar tools.
- Finite Element software: You will have familiarity with structural analysis Finite Element software, such as ANSYS APDL, Robot or similar tools.
- Seismic analysis and design principles: You will have a strong understanding of seismic analysis and design principles for nuclear structures.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills: You will have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Professional licensure or chartered status: You will have professional licensure or chartered status in Structural Engineering, which is advantageous.
- On-site design support experience: You will have experience with on-site design support: working with contractors on site to deliver the implementation of engineering solutions.
- 3D BIM modelling experience: You will have experience of 3D BIM modelling such as TEKLA, Navisworks, which will be a plus.
Security Clearance:
Given the nature of the work, role holders may be required to undergo Basic Security Clearance (BPSS).
