Leading Stroke Physician in West Hertfordshire

West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Consultant Stroke Physician to join its dynamic team.
As a Consultant Stroke Physician, you will be primarily based at Watford General Hospital, where you will provide 8.5PA of inpatient and outpatient services, including support for the thrombolysis service, provision of ward rounds on the hyper-acute and acute Stroke Unit, and participation in Stroke outpatient and TIA clinics.
The appointee will also have 1 SPA flexibility and an additional 0.5 SPA (2 in total a week) if they agree to help supervise trainees.
In addition to the above responsibilities, you will be eligible for a relocation allowance in excess of £12,000, as well as a golden hello payment of £7,000 paid in 12 equal instalments and a recruitment and retention fee of £12k per year for three years, paid in equal monthly instalments.

As a Consultant Stroke Physician, you will play a vital role in helping us achieve our vision of providing high-quality care to patients in our community.
Job Responsibilities
- Providing a service at Watford General Hospital, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illness, and the proper functioning of the department.
- Liaising with Consultants in the departments of Emergency Medicine, Medicine, Care of the Elderly, and with Integrated care boards to ensure that patients receive optimal management consistently across the Trust.
- Covering for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences
- Working in clinical and other domains within Care of the Elderly/Medicine if required, including attendance at departmental educational and management meetings.
- Supervising and managing junior medical staff.
- Carrying out teaching, examination, and accreditation of junior staff, and contributing to undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education locally and nationally.
