About the Role

Abcam is seeking a highly skilled Senior Bioinformatics Lead to join our Machine Learning and Bioinformatics team in Cambridge (UK) and Boston (US). As a key member of our team, you will work on next-generation solutions to fundamental questions in life sciences, leveraging your expertise in bioinformatics and machine learning to drive innovation and growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and develop solutions for complex bioinformatics applications that impact life-changing products and services.
  • Lead projects and collaborate with international teams to identify, plan, develop, and deliver production-quality, cloud-based solutions.
  • Supervise and mentor bioinformatic developers and analysts, providing guidance and support to ensure team success.
  • Work on challenging projects and end-to-end bioinformatics processes, applying your expertise to drive results and growth.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in bioinformatics and machine learning, applying this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement within the team.

Requirements

  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Bio-Medical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Five years or more of relevant experience in bioinformatics and machine learning.
  • Experience in implementing NGS analysis pipelines, developing bioinformatics approaches for DNA and protein sequence analysis, and working with antibody or protein structural modeling.
  • Strong understanding of data and statistical analysis, with experience in R and statistical analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a dynamic multidisciplinary environment.
