Sourcing Specialist

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Sourcing Engineer to join our team at Wise Employment Plymouth. As a Sourcing Engineer, you will play a crucial role in sourcing new direct components required for New Products Introductions (NPI) from existing or new suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source new direct components from existing or new suppliers, requiring understanding of specifications, drawings, and technical data provided by the engineering team.
- Be the subject matter expert for direct components and use this knowledge to support sourcing strategies and supplier relationships.
- Use market and industry intelligence to identify, vet, and qualify new suppliers.
- Identify risks and threats in the Supply Chain, rank them, and address them by providing solutions for mitigation of the highest risks.
- Identify cost savings opportunities and action them.
- Identify inventory reduction opportunities and action them.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
- Ensure compliance to sourcing and contracting policies, procedures, risk management programs, and ethics.
- Mentor/educate suppliers as required and the rest of the Purchasing Team.
- Drive inventory reduction.
- Monitor supplier spending.
- Track savings made on sourcing projects.
Requirements:
- CIPS level 4 or above.
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Wing-to-wing understanding of the supply chain.
- Good business acumen and awareness of the steel market.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbally.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong, effective relationships both internally and outside of the organisation.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Excel and SAP proficiency.
- Analytical mindset.
- A keen eye for detail and be well organised.
