At Qualcomm, we're committed to delivering innovative solutions for our custom CPUs. As a Senior Embedded Systems Software Architect, you will play a key role in this effort.

About the Role

This is a senior-level position that requires strong technical expertise and leadership skills. You will be responsible for designing and developing software optimizations and drivers for high-performance platforms. Your goal will be to ensure that existing operating systems run well on our CPUs while identifying opportunities for enhancements that can improve performance.

In this role, you will collaborate with internal teams and external upstream communities, including the Linux kernel community. You will engage with hardware and software development teams to ensure leading performance, efficiency, and security for our custom CPUs. This includes working with performance teams to understand areas of hardware optimization.

Responsibilities
  • Define future high-performance SoCs and platforms.
  • Lead the creation of optimizations and drivers for high-performance platforms.
  • Collaborate with performance teams to understand areas of hardware optimization.

This role requires a strong understanding of computer architecture concepts, including high-performance architectures and weak memory models. You should have experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python. Self-motivation and the ability to engage with upstream communities are essential.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Or Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Or PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • 4+ years of work experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of experience in building software stacks for high-performance systems.
  • Experience working 'upstream first' with the Linux kernel community.
  • Experience maintaining server-class platform support upstream.
  • Strong grasp of computer architecture concepts leveraged by modern high-performance server-class platforms.

We offer a competitive salary range: $200,000 - $300,000 per year, depending on your experience and qualifications. We also provide benefits, including medical insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
