Supporting Students with Complex Needs
Academics is seeking a dedicated and caring individual to join their team as a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant. This role will involve supporting students with specific learning disabilities (SLD) or profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) in a small class setting.
As a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and other support staff to provide individualized support to students. This may include assisting with personal care, mobility, and emotional support, as well as participating in activities such as cooking, swimming, and sensory play.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with students with special educational needs and be able to provide a supportive and non-judgmental environment. Previous experience working with children and/or adults with disabilities is desirable, but not essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with complex needs in a small class setting
- Assist with personal care, mobility, and emotional support
- Participate in activities such as cooking, swimming, and sensory play
- Work closely with the class teacher and other support staff to provide individualized support
Requirements:
- Dedicated and caring individual with a passion for working with students with special educational needs
- Ability to provide a supportive and non-judgmental environment
- Previous experience working with children and/or adults with disabilities (desirable)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm
