Maintenance Engineer

Job Summary:
Kepak Group is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team. As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for providing effective maintenance support to the Production team, maintaining and repairing equipment, machinery, and tools used in the factory.
Main Responsibilities:
- Undertake routine checking of equipment, quality inspections, and troubleshooting on the production lines and process, working to minimize downtime.
- Troubleshoot using PLC Logic.
- Perform electro-mechanical repairs to high-speed, PLC-controlled plant, handling and packaging equipment, pneumatic, and hydraulic control systems.
- Communicate effectively with the Production team, providing timely updates on breakdowns and downtime.
- Provide technical support for plant facilities and services, including compressed air, refrigeration, and steam.
- Contribute to and carry out Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Routines.
- Support the Production Team in achieving targets.
- Monitor line and machine performance, identifying and investigating faults.
- Intervene online as soon as any deterioration in performance occurs.
- Work independently and take remedial action based on your best judgment.
- Analyze the efficiency of current procedures and suggest improvements.
- Collaborate with equipment suppliers on new equipment, installations, and modifications.
- Maintain cleanliness in working areas, including transit areas and the workshop.
- Participate in training and development, cross-skilling, and other job-related competencies.
- Update the maintenance management system, records of changes, stores transactions, and work carried out.
- Participate in toolbox talks and undertake permit to work and/or risk assessments.
- Be available to support rotating shift cover roster.
- Ensure all systems comply with relevant health and safety legislation and site food hygiene and safety requirements.
Working Hours:
4 on 4 off basis, 05:00 - 17:00 (12 hour shift), 36 hours or 48 hours per week, averaging 42 hours per week. Full-time contract. Pay: £41,296.00 per annum.
Requirements:
- NVQ Level 3 Mechanical and/or Electrical Qualification essential.
- BS7671 18th Edition - 17th is acceptable with ongoing commitment to 18th.
- Experience working in meat/food production environment preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, PLC control, refrigeration, and PTW systems desirable.
- Strong diagnostic/root cause analysis skills essential.
- Proactive and 'can-do' attitude essential.
- Adaptable to change and willingness to upskill and learn new disciplines as required.
- Sound understanding of integrity and compliance to relevant legislation and company processes/procedures.
- Commitment to good practice.
- Fluent English, communicates well in written and oral form with multi-nationals on all levels.
- Ability to multitask and work under own initiative to deliver to deadlines.
- Relationship builder with influencing skills.
