About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team at Kepak Group. In this role, you will be responsible for providing effective maintenance support to our Production team, ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing processes.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and Repair: Undertake routine checking of equipment, perform quality inspections, and troubleshoot issues on the production lines and process, working to minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot using PLC Logic and electro-mechanical repairs to high-speed, PLC-controlled plant and handling and packaging equipment.
  • Communication: Provide timely updates on breakdowns and downtime to the Production team.
  • Technical Support: Offer technical support for the plant facilities and services, including compressed air, refrigeration, and steam.
  • Maintenance Routines: Input to and carry out Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Routines.
  • Target Achievement: Support the Production Team in achieving targets.
  • Performance Monitoring: Closely monitor line and machine performance, identifying and investigating faults.
  • Initiative and Problem-Solving: Intervene online as soon as any deterioration in performance occurs and be observant, working off your own initiative when a fault is detected.
  • Improvement and Development: Analyze the efficiency of current procedures and suggest improvements.
  • Equipment Support: Work with equipment suppliers on new equipment, installations, and modifications.
  • Cleanliness and Safety: Maintain cleanliness in areas you work in, including transit areas and the workshop.
  • Training and Development: Cooperate and participate fully in training and development in cross-skilling and other job-related competencies.
  • Record Keeping: Update the maintenance management system, records of all changes, stores transactions made, and work carried out.
  • Health and Safety: Actively participate in toolbox talks and undertake permit to work and/or risk assessments, ensuring all systems comply with relevant legislation and site requirements.
  • Availability: Be available to support and participate in rotating shift cover roster.

Working Hours:

On a 4 on 4 off basis, 12-hour shifts (05:00 - 17:00) with an average of 42 hours per week. This is a full-time contract with a competitive salary of £41,296.00 per annum.

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 Mechanical and/or Electrical Qualification is essential.
  • BS7671 18th Edition qualification (17th Edition acceptable with ongoing commitment to 18th).
  • Experience working in a meat/food production environment is preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, PLC control, refrigeration, and PTW systems is desirable.
  • Strong diagnostic/root cause analysis skills are essential.
  • A proactive and "can-do" attitude is essential.
  • Adaptability to change and willingness to upskill and learn new disciplines as required.
  • A sound understanding of integrity and compliance to relevant legislation and company processes/procedures.
  • A commitment to good practice.
  • Fluent English, with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work under own initiative to deliver to deadlines.
  • Relationship builder with influencing skills.
  • A strong team player.
