About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to fill the role of House Pastoral Leader at our school in Maidstone, Kent. As a key member of the pastoral team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective running of the allocated House, catering to the welfare and needs of students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with the Housemaster/Mistress to ensure they are fully briefed on events and developments during the day.
  • Supervise students during working hours, promoting personal cleanliness and appearance, completion of House duties, and punctuality for all school commitments.
  • Accompany students to meals and supervise them according to the requirements of the House.
  • Support the Tutor and House Parent with the academic, behaviour, and general progress of students in the House.
  • Administer medication complying with School procedures and provide basic First Aid treatment as necessary.
  • Regularly check the fabric of the House and requisition repairs or replacements through Facilities Management as appropriate.
  • Assist with organising and running social, sporting, or other House activities for students.

Mandatory Duties:

  • Health & Safety: Be personally responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of all staff and students affected by your acts and/or omissions.

  • Safeguarding Children: Be responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Person Specification:

  • Good communication skills, including verbal and written.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to both young people and adults.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Good ICT skills for recording and monitoring students.
  • Good listening skills and the ability to support young people when required.

Essential Experience:

  • Working with, or involvement with students in a professional setting.

Salary: £17,660 per annum, including holiday pay based on 40 weeks of the year.
