Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Lead Nurse to join our team at Swansea Bay University Health Board. As a Clinical Lead Nurse, you will be responsible for managing a team of nurses and healthcare staff, ensuring the implementation and adherence to operational policy and clinical pathways.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a clinical caseload and supervise the nursing team and their caseloads.
  • Liaise with social and healthcare professionals to meet client needs.
  • Implement clinical and service pathways and adhere to legislative frameworks.
  • Participate in systems and structures that promote the rights, responsibilities, and diversities of people with a learning disability.

Main Duties of the Job

As a Clinical Lead Nurse, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing a team of nurses and healthcare staff.
  • Ensuring the implementation and adherence to operational policy and clinical pathways.
  • Supervising the nursing team and clinical caseload to ensure effective and efficient care is delivered to people with a learning disability.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities

As a Clinical Lead Nurse, you will be responsible for:

  • Exercise day-to-day accountability for the management of the nursing caseload.
  • Supervise the professional and clinical work of community nursing staff within the community nursing team.
  • Provide visible, professional nursing leadership, support, supervision, and guidance in line with NMC standards.
  • Provide expert clinical advice/intervention on specialist complex issues within your field and undertake management and monitoring activities in line with legal and professional requirements, statutory rules, and Health Board policies relating to evidence-based practice.

Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • Registered Nurse Learning Disability or Mental Health Qualification.
  • Degree qualification in a relevant field of practice.
  • Knowledge of legislation pertinent to the role, eg. Safeguarding, Mental Health Measure (Wales), and Continuing Health Care.

Desirable Criteria

  • Masters Qualification.

Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Relevant experience working with people with Learning Disability and Mental Health issues.
  • Evidence of coordinating and managing a team of staff.
  • Evidence of multi-disciplinary working.

Desirable Criteria

  • Evidence of finance resource management.

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Advanced clinical and leadership skills.
  • Able to evidence implementing change using evidence-based practice.
