GP Receptionist

About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic GP Receptionist to join our dynamic team at Connaught Square Practice in Central London.
The successful candidate will be responsible for welcoming and assisting patients, directing them to the appropriate service or healthcare professional, and providing general assistance to the Practice team.
Main Responsibilities
- Dealing with patient queries and providing a professional and patient-focused service
- Booking, cancelling, and amending appointments on SystmOne
- Monitoring the flow of patients into the waiting room and ensuring the appointment system accurately reflects their arrival
- Using judgement and communication skills to ensure patients with no prior appointment but needing urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner
- Explaining Practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover
- Answering the telephone promptly and conveying messages in a timely manner
- Maintaining a log of telephone messages and sorting the mail and posting letters
- Recording admin-related events in SystmOne and scanning patient correspondence and other papers into the patient record
- Charging patients the appropriate amount for private work and recording the charge on their record
- Recording incoming medical forms and requests for To Whom It May Concern letters in the form-tracking book
- Accepting requests for repeat prescriptions and processing them in a timely manner
- Monitoring repeat prescription requests to ensure patients attend the surgery for medication reviews and other health checks
- Alerting the Practice Manager or Senior Partner to any complaints or potential problems
- Monitoring GP-Links for registration-related data queries
- Opening up the Practice in the morning and closing it in the evening according to agreed procedures
- Meeting targets set by the Practice Manager
Person Specification
We are looking for a candidate with excellent interpersonal and customer care skills, the ability to work under pressure, and strong organisational skills. The ideal candidate will have a good command of the English language, both spoken and written, and be able to work independently with self-motivation.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
At least 1-2 years' experience as a Receptionist or in a similar role, although training will be provided.
