The Harrogate location is our largest pre-clinical site in the UK, boasting a central location within walking distance of the town centre and close proximity to all public transport. The senior pathologist will be responsible for reporting and interpreting pathology data from all types of toxicity studies. This role requires a strong understanding of anatomic and clinical pathology requirements in toxicity studies, as well as the ability to work with other scientists and staff to address scientific issues.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Protocols: Advising on anatomic and clinical pathology requirements in toxicity studies.
  • Necropsy: Supervising necropsies to ensure proper dissection description, sampling, and preservation of tissues.
  • Histopathology: Performing microscopic evaluation and interpretation of tissue sections from toxicology studies.
  • Clinical Pathology: Evaluating and interpreting clinical pathology data from toxicology studies.
  • Reports: Compiling pathology narrative reports of microscopic and gross pathology findings.
  • Interaction: Maintaining working relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Advisory: Assisting and advising study directors and operational personnel.
  • Organizational: Providing operational management and improving the efficiency and image of the pathology group.
  • Training: Attending courses and meetings to improve scientific capabilities.
  • Development: Initiating or participating in special projects or developing an area of expertise.

Requirements include:

  • At least 5 years of experience in laboratory animal pathology.
  • Demonstrated expertise in evaluating pathology data from acute, subchronic, and chronic rodent toxicology studies.
  • Ability to work with other scientists and staff to address scientific issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
