PhD Software Engineer Internship Opportunity

Contract: Temporary Full-Time - 6 months

Work Model: Hybrid

Electronic Arts Inc. is a global leader in interactive entertainment. Our in-house game engine, Frostbite, is a cutting-edge technology that enables the creation of immersive gaming experiences. We are seeking a highly motivated and accomplished PhD Software Engineer Intern to join our team and contribute to the development of outstanding physics technology for consoles, PC, iOS, and Android.

As a member of our engineering team, you will work on all aspects of software engineering, from design to testing and optimization. You will have the opportunity to engage with game teams and other central technology groups around the globe. We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in physics, mathematics, or a related field, and experience with C++ programming in games, physics, graphics, or numerical simulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of physics technology for Frostbite
  • Collaborate with game teams and other technology groups to integrate physics technology into games
  • Work on all aspects of software engineering, from design to testing and optimization
  • Engage with game teams and other central technology groups around the globe

Requirements:

  • Currently studying towards a PhD degree in a relevant field
  • Available to commence a full-time, 6-month placement in July 2025
  • Located and eligible to work in Guildford, UK without the need for visa/relocation support
  • Strong background in physics, mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience with C++ programming in games, physics, graphics, or numerical simulations
