Job Title: Pharmacy Manager/Lead

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Pharmacy Manager/Lead to join our Transformation Unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of pharmacy technicians, scientists, and trainees, and will play a key role in delivering training to healthcare professionals across the Health board.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Provide leadership to a team of pharmacy technicians, scientists, and trainees, and support a team of pharmacists.
  • Training and Development: Deliver training to healthcare professionals across the Health board and provide medicines advice to healthcare professionals and patients across multiple health boards and nationally.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver innovative strategies for advancing medicines governance practices, while also retaining a strong focus on medicines safety.
  • Service Delivery: Coordinate cover for annual leave, sickness, study days, and lieu time, and support and maintain a high-quality service, conducted according to national and local guidance, to users within the Pharmacy department, throughout the UHB and external customers.
  • Medicines Advice: Provide a regular service to the dispensary or Medicines Management, which includes dispensing and accuracy checking medicines, and act as a key trainer for medicines advice, ensuring all staff are trained in local practices.
  • Communication: Establish and maintain links with other senior technicians, managers, and other pharmacy staff to ensure the service meets their needs.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science, NVQ level 3 in pharmacy services, and a supervisory or management qualification.
  • Experience: Extensive and broad experience of all aspects of pharmacy practice, including experience of training/assessing staff, writing, developing, and implementing SOPs, and previous experience in medicines advice.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of hospital stock control systems and a strong understanding of medicines governance practices.
