Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Activity Coordinator to join our team at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and delivering a range of therapeutic activities for service users on our inpatient forensic wards.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate a diverse program of activities under the supervision of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Organize and plan service user events to promote inclusivity and engagement.
  • Develop and utilize practical and technical skills with service users to improve their mental health, physical health, and wellbeing.
  • Assist in identifying service users' strengths and needs to plan and implement suitable activities.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of activities with service users, carers, and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Record clinical information on service users' progress with members of the multidisciplinary team.
Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

  • Active interest in delivering a wide range of therapeutic activities.
  • Good interpersonal skills to work with patients, carers, and staff.
  • Time management and organizational skills to undertake activities.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Prior skill and experience in a relevant area of work, such as creative arts, crafts, or physical fitness.
  • Ability to risk assess both individuals and tasks.
  • Experience of running groups or sessions.
Experience, Qualifications, and Training

Essential Criteria:

  • Care certificate or willingness to work towards one.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of working with people in forensic services or the criminal justice system.
Other Work-Related Requirements

Essential Criteria:

  • Positive attitude to people with mental health issues.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt as required by the service.
  • Ability to participate in PEACE training.
  • All new starters have a thorough induction process, both local and Trust-wide.
  • Appointment to this post is subject to the Trust receiving satisfactory references.
  • Employees are expected to undertake mandatory and statutory training related to their role.
