Job Introduction

Tarmac, the UK's leading sustainable building materials and construction solutions business, is seeking a Skilled Plant Operator to join its C&H Readymix 'RMX' team based at the Costessey site near Norwich.

This role is ideal for a Multi-Talented Operative looking for a new challenge in a dynamic and inclusive environment. As a Plant Maintenance Specialist, you will work closely with the Plant Management team to ensure the day-to-day operations of our fixed and mobile plant run smoothly.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Operating both mobile and fixed plant on site
  • Working with the team to ensure customers receive good quality material and on-time deliveries
  • Assisting the Supervisor with meeting daily/weekly production targets
  • Following SHE policies and procedures
  • Ensuring plant conforms with safety requirements at all times
  • Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality responsibilities
  • Inspecting plant and implementing remedial action
  • Maximizing plant availability
  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping around the site

In this role, you will work Monday to Friday with flexibility to provide overtime availability to meet site production plans.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have proven experience working as a Skilled Operative with Plant Experience in a plant/cement/readymix environment. You will also possess good communication skills and a desire to develop both operative and supervisory skills.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • ESSENTIAL - Knowledge of plant, both fixed and mobile
  • Loading Shovel License - minimum 7.5 meter license required
  • Good timekeeping and flexibility to meet site requirements
  • Good communication skills and ability to bring problems to the attention of Line Management
  • Full UK manual car driving license with no more than 6 penalty points
  • IT literacy
