Ocean Freight Coordinator

Innovate Freight Talent is seeking a highly skilled Import Operator to join their Imports team. As a key member of this team, you will play a pivotal role in orchestrating the movement of goods across international waters, ensuring they reach their destinations safely, efficiently, and on time.

Key Responsibilities- Book freight with approved carriers/lines.
- Develop and build relationships to ensure a high level of customer service is provided to clients.
- Take requests and queries and resolve them effectively and efficiently.
- Communicate with overseas agents and clients clearly, precisely, and accurately, and resolve issues and complaints in a timely manner.
- Ensure pre-alert documents are on hand prior to vessel arrival.
- Ensure correct documentation.
- Process supplier invoices.
- Maintain customer and supplier spreadsheets.
- Ensure that the sales department are aware of client activity and business profitability.
- Ensure that the departmental manager is aware of the status of all shipments.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in freight forwarding including working for an independent.
- Good verbal and written communication, to provide a professional image to customers and suppliers.
- The capacity to work in a high-pressure environment whilst remaining calm when under pressure.
- The ability to instruct a global network of agents, suppliers, shipping lines, hauliers.
- The skill to prioritise a large number of tasks to ensure accuracy and deliver results with great attention to detail and a high sense of urgency.
- A positive attitude and good problem-solving skills and to apply lessons learned.
- Be commercially aware and able to grow repeat business and develop new opportunities.
- The drive to succeed and want to make a contribution to the business.
