As an Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing support and fostering a nurturing learning environment that ensures every child can achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with autism, tailored to their individual needs.
  • Work closely with parents, caregivers, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
  • Utilise a variety of teaching methods and resources to engage and support students with autism in their learning.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and adapting strategies as necessary.
  • Help prepare classroom materials and activities that promote an inclusive learning environment.
  • Support the development of social and communication skills through activities.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture by promoting understanding and acceptance of autism within the school community.
Requirements
  • Enhanced DBS Check (or be willing to undertake one)
  • Relevant personal or work experience supporting people with autism
  • Strong understanding of autism and strategies to support students with autism in an educational setting
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated team
