Support Worker for Young Man with Complex Needs

Job Overview

This role involves providing support to a young man with complex needs, including cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and communication difficulties. The successful candidate will work as part of a dedicated home care team to assist with personal care tasks, transfers, and therapy sessions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, and toileting
  • Support with transfers and mobility, using specialist equipment as needed
  • Participate in therapy sessions, including hydrotherapy, to promote the young man's physical and emotional well-being
  • Assist with daily living tasks, such as meal preparation and household chores
  • Monitor the young man's epilepsy and respond to seizures as needed

Requirements:

  • Experience working with individuals with complex needs, including cerebral palsy and epilepsy
  • Ability to work as part of a team, with a focus on providing high-quality care and support
  • Confident and comfortable working in a home environment, with a focus on maintaining confidentiality and respecting the young man's and his family's needs and wishes
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders, including the young man, his family, and healthcare professionals
  • Ability to think creatively and use initiative to meet the young man's needs and promote his well-being
