Senior Social Worker Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Social Worker to join our team at Hillingdon Council. As a Senior Social Worker, you will play a key role in mentoring, coaching, and supervising our aspiring social workers while providing support to vulnerable children and young people.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and manage high levels of risk, using a systemic and solution-focused approach to develop effective safety plans.
  • Employ a variety of social work models and techniques to address client requirements.
  • Apply available resources to meet the needs of children and families.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with data protection protocols.
  • Receive regular professional supervision and maintain a critical reflective approach to practice.
  • Manage a complex social work caseload, including safeguarding, with increasing autonomy.
  • Demonstrate expertise in one or more areas of social work practice.
  • Provide professional supervision to other social workers, supporting caseload management and promoting reflective practice and continuous professional development.
  • Model and support the development of social work professionalism and effective caseload management.
  • Establish a network of internal and external colleagues to support effective practice.
  • Prepare court proceeding reports and act as expert testimony in Care or Private Order proceedings.
  • Produce management information and analysis.
  • Participate in team planning and contribute to the delivery of team and service plans.
Requirements:
  • A qualified Social Worker with at least 2 years post-qualifying experience.
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Enthusiastic and committed to building a culture based on excellence and collaboration.
  • Leadership and management skills to support others in developing risk management skills.
