Job Title: Craftsman

Babcock International Group is working to create a safe and secure world, together, and as a Craftsman, you can play a key role. You will have a role that's out of the ordinary, operating and maintaining lathes and milling machines to produce precision components according to specifications.

The Role

You will be a skilled Craftsman with expertise in metalwork and machine fabrication. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Utilize fabrication techniques to assemble, cut, and shape materials to meet project requirements.
  • Maintain welding equipment and ensure a safe working environment. Perform welding tasks using various techniques (MIG, TIG, or ARC) to fabricate metal components, and inspect welded joints for accuracy and conformance to specifications.
  • Be the appointed Inventory holder for materials and tools.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide regular updates on project progress.
  • The ideal candidate should be proficient in the operation of lathes, milling machines, drills, and various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, and gas welding).

This role is full time and based onsite at RAF Wyton. Babcock International Group offers a dynamic and stable work environment with a focus on career development and employee satisfaction.

Essential Experience and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Craftsman or similar role in operating lathes and milling machines to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work on own initiative independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Level 3 Award in Gas, Mig and Tig Welding with knowledge of the different welding techniques.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Normal colour perception graded as CP2.

Security Clearance

  • The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC Clearance.
