About the Role:

Holtec International is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join their team in the design of mechanical and structural components for the SMR-160+ small modular reactor. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating feasible and practical solutions to challenging design problems, working alongside a multidisciplinary team to develop innovative components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop mechanical and structural components for the SMR-160+ plant.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and analysts to create feasible and practical solutions to design problems.
  • Develop technical documentation and perform verification design concepts.
  • Support the preparation of design deliverables and communicate design progress in stakeholder meetings.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience in requirements capture, including functional, non-functional, stakeholder, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in generating design solutions through formal optioneering processes or similar.
  • Ability to work independently and balance competing priorities.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience in design and fabrication of products such as heat exchangers, piping valves, and pumps.
  • Industry experience in using FEA simulation to support product development.
  • Experience working with engineers and fabricators to develop designs and drawings.
