About the Role

Mace is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Cost Management to join our team. As a key member of our programme management team, you will be responsible for defining and implementing cost management policies, processes, and systems to ensure the successful delivery of our programmes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain cost management policies, processes, and systems to ensure compliance with company standards and industry best practices.
  • Lead the development of cost breakdown structures and apply earned value techniques to analyse trends, identify baseline deviations, and facilitate corrective actions.
  • Integrate cost management with change control, risk management, and contractual changes to determine dynamic estimates at completion for individual projects and overall programmes.
  • Collaborate with the commercial team to define cost management strategies and ensure alignment with programme objectives.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to programme teams on cost management best practices and industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and industry partners.
  • Lead the development of cost management processes and procedures and integrate them with programme delivery management systems.
  • Coordinate the linkage between programme, estimate, financial, and cost management systems.
  • Update performance measurement baselines, taking into consideration change control processes.
  • Conduct cost checks, analyse trends, identify risks, and communicate to senior management teams.
  • Liaise with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle to ensure adherence to cost management processes.
  • Oversee the reporting of EVM and EAC variances and provide detailed interpretation and analysis.
Requirements
  • Strong numerical and cost reporting skills.
  • Ability to use IT systems, including PRISM, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Understanding of contract types and how to compile contract documentation.
  • Very strong understanding of techniques for project planning, risk management, cost control, and change management.
  • Good knowledge of Primavera P6.
  • Expert knowledge of EVA techniques.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly accurate with good attention to detail.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with the team and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage time effectively to meet key deadlines.
  • Ability to analyse problems and propose effective solutions.
  • Able to work collaboratively.
  • Able to lead a team.
  • Previous experience in cost management using cost reporting systems.
  • Previous experience in construction and deep understanding of other functions within controls.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading a successful team.
  • Experience of managing multiple stakeholder groups.
