Head of Cost Management

Mace is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cost Management professional to join our team as a Head of Cost Management. This is an exciting opportunity to lead our cost management function and play a key role in delivering our business objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement cost management policies, processes, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely cost reporting.
- Lead the development of cost breakdown structures and apply Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques to analyse trends and identify baseline deviations.
- Collaborate with the commercial team to define cost management policies and procedures.
- Provide cost management expertise to programme teams to ensure effective cost control and management.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and consultants.
- Lead the development of cost management processes and procedures and integrate them with the programme delivery management system.
- Coordinate the linkage between the programme, estimate, financial, and cost management systems.
- Update the performance measurement baseline, taking into consideration the change control process.
- Conduct cost checks, analyse trends, identify risks, and communicate to the senior management team.
- Liaise with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle to ensure adherence to cost management processes.
- Oversee the reporting of EVM and EAC variances and provide detailed interpretation and analysis.
- Strong numerical and cost reporting skills.
- Ability to use IT systems, including PRISM, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Understanding of contract types and how to compile contract documentation.
- Very strong understanding of techniques for project planning, risk management, cost control, and change management.
- Good knowledge of Primavera P6.
- Expert knowledge of EVA techniques.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly accurate with good attention to detail.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with the team and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage time effectively to meet key deadlines.
- Ability to analyse problems and propose effective solutions.
- Able to work collaboratively.
- Able to lead a team.
- Previous experience in cost management using cost reporting systems.
- Previous experience in construction and deep understanding of other functions within controls.
- Demonstrable experience of leading a successful team.
- Experience of managing multiple stakeholder groups.
