Neurosurgeon Specialist

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the paediatric neurosurgery service, providing leadership in research and teaching, and contributing to the neurosurgery on-call rota. This includes managing both paediatric and adult neurosurgical patients, with a focus on CSF disorders and neuro-endoscopy.
The postholder will work closely with colleagues at King's College Hospital, Evelina Children's Hospital, and the Royal Marsden Hospital, and will be accountable to the clinical leads of paediatric and adult neurosurgery and the clinical director.
The ideal candidate will have a wide experience in all aspects of neurosurgery, including paediatric and adult neurosurgery, and will have completed a dedicated fellowship in paediatric neurosurgery and functional and epilepsy neurosurgery.
The postholder will be expected to conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Trust's service plans and strategic direction.
The successful candidate will be a senior employee of the Trust, supporting and working in close co-operation with other clinical, medical professional, and managerial colleagues in providing high-quality healthcare to the Trust's patients.
The key responsibilities of the postholder will include:
- Providing a first-class clinical service
- Effective leadership to all staff engaged in the specialty
- Sustaining and developing teaching and research in conjunction with King's College London School of Medicine
- Conducting clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Trust's service plans and strategic direction
- Maintaining the confidence of business plans and development strategies formulated for the specialty, the Care Group, or the Trust
- Recognised medical qualification
- FRCS (SN) or equivalent
- Full Registration with GMC and Name on Specialist Register on date of taking up appointment
- Other higher degree or diploma (e.g. MD or PhD)
- Wide experience in all aspects of neurosurgery (paediatric and adult) culminating in award of CCST or equivalent
- Dedicated Fellowship in Paediatric Neurosurgery
- Dedicated Fellowship in Functional and Epilepsy Neurosurgery
- Recent experience managing both paediatric and adult neurosurgical patients
- Training and experience in the management of CSF disorders and neuro-endoscopy
- Training and experience in paediatric deep brain stimulation and epilepsy surgery
