Neurosurgeon Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Neurosurgeon to join our team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in Paediatrics and Epilepsy, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality care to patients.
Main Responsibilities- Provide clinical leadership and expertise in Paediatric Neurosurgery, working closely with colleagues at King's College Hospital, Evelina Children's Hospital, and the Royal Marsden Hospital.
- Develop and implement research and teaching programs in Paediatric and Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) Neurosurgery, supervising registrars and facilitating training for junior colleagues.
- Contribute to the development of the academic profile of Paediatric and TYA Neurosurgery at King's College Hospital, working closely with King's College London School of Medicine and the Institute of Psychiatry.
- Participate in the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings, clinics, and theatre sessions, demonstrating flexibility in working patterns to optimize theatre resources and ensure smooth running of clinics and MDTs.
- Take an active role in the formulation, implementation, and monitoring of the Care Group's Business Plan, working closely with clinical and managerial colleagues to ensure high-quality healthcare delivery.
- Exercise professional leadership, fostering and developing projects to enhance post-qualification professional education and training, and maintaining momentum in staff productivity and job satisfaction.
- Recognised medical qualification
- FRCS (SN) or equivalent
- Full Registration with GMC and Name on Specialist Register on date of taking up appointment
- Other higher degree or diploma (e.g. MD or PhD)
- Wide experience in all aspects of neurosurgery (paediatric and adult) culminating in award of CCST or equivalent.
- Dedicated Fellowship in Paediatric Neurosurgery
- Dedicated Fellowship in Functional and Epilepsy Neurosurgery
- Recent experience managing both paediatric and adult neurosurgical patients
- Training and experience in the management of CSF disorders and neuro-endoscopy
- Training and experience in paediatric deep brain stimulation and epilepsy surgery
- Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit. Must have undertaken and completed audit projects.
- Experience of basic and clinical research. Publication record in relevant topics
- Relevant research experience in one or more aspects of neurosurgery including setting up trials
- GCP
- Experience of post-graduate teaching and exam preparation
- Teaching skills course/qualification
